to See

Brief: To explore the relationship between strategy and audience with a spirit of inquiry and play.

Year: 2022

Description :

Traveling is seen as one of the most enjoyable leisure experiences, where we feast our eyes on an array of lovely landmarks. But what happens when you are a traveler with vision impairments? Sights to See is a travel guide consisting of a tactile braille map and swipe-based app that makes creating an itinerary fun, accessible, and inclusive, with sights that captivate a lot more than just our eyesight.

About the project :

  • The project demonstrates a deep sense of empathy towards individuals with vision impairments, stemming from personal conversations with relatives. This fuels the creative process, leading to the development of a travel guide that aims to make traveling more accessible and inclusive for visually impaired individuals. By staying in constant contact with potential users throughout the design journey, Sights to See ensures that their needs and experiences inform every aspect of the work.

  • It employs a multifaceted approach to address the needs of visually impaired travelers, combining tactile braille maps with a swipe-based interactive app. By offering both digital and physical accessibility solutions, it ensures that users of all ages and preferences can benefit from the travel guide. This inclusive design approach reflects a commitment to accessibility and user-centered design principles.

  • Recognizing that individuals with vision impairments rely on auditory and tactile senses to navigate their surroundings, the application incorporates features such as audio aid, tactile experiences, and voice command navigation to effectively integrate multisensory experiences into the design.

  • Experimenting with printmaking techniques, Braille, and prototyping app interfaces allows for continuous learning and improvement. This iterative approach reflects a dedication to growth and innovation in communication design.
