Care for
Carers

Brief: Use communication design to encourage individuals to play a role in supporting their friends and family who have taken on care activities.

Year: 2022

Description :

Carers UK has found that the majority of carers take years to recognize their caring role. This project asks people to offer them support while keeping in mind that being supportive doesn’t necessarily mean taking on direct care tasks, as there are lots of ways to help those most involved in day-to-day care.

About the project :

  • The project effectively communicates the importance of offering emotional support to carers through empathetic messaging. By encouraging individuals to respond patiently and kindly to situations where carers may need to prioritize their own well-being, the project fosters a supportive environment and promotes understanding of carers' needs.

  • It utilizes a multifaceted range of communication channels and mediums to reach its target audience, including AR grocery store floor signage, cinema adverts, bus stop ads, and an interactive texting game. This approach ensures broad visibility and engagement, catering to different preferences and lifestyles.

  • Through the development of an interactive text-based game and chatbot, the project promotes experiential learning and behavior change. By allowing participants to engage in simulated conversations with carers, the project highlights the impact of different communication approaches and encourages individuals to reflect on their behaviors and attitudes towards carers.
